Green Breakfast

Breakfast can be magical, and it looks so pretty on this blog. Makes me want to make a big breakfast, sit down on the porch with a big cup of tea, and start of the day extra slow and thoughtful.

But truth is, I don't want to wake up that early.

For the last few weeks I have had one of these every morning for breakfast: a green smoothie.

I first heard about green smoothies here. But then I found out, a lot of people know about green smoothies and I'm late to the game.

Well, let me tell you, Justin and I have been feeling great ever since we started drinking these. That sounds like I am selling something, I'm not. They are just that good, I had to share!

Here's my favorite version so far:

Green Smoothie:
2 whole oranges, peeled
2 bananas
1 cup frozen pineapple
4 cups of spinach

Blend. Add water if more liquid is needed and blend, blend, blend till smooth. I have to do this for 2-3 minutes. If you have a cool vitamix, it's easier, and I am envious of you.

simply breakfast is beautiful, I'm just not motivated enough in the mornings to pull all that off! haha.

That smoothie looks like swamp water, I love it. I think I'm going to try it out soon - does it taste spinach-y?

Good question Hannah! .. it doesn't taste spinach-y at all. It mainly tastes like oranges - especially if you use fresh orange juice instead of water. yuummm!

haha! swamp water... its so true!

Nope, no ice!

YOU HAVE A VITAMIX! Jealousy!

You should definitely try a green smoothie then.

Aw. I drink my daily (non-green) smoothie out of a mason jar too. Good call.

I love spinach so I would have no trouble drinking this. And if you give me any beverage in a ball glass, I am happy. Sounds healthy and delicious!

I'm glad to hear you use raw spinach. Somehow the frozen just didn't seem right with this fruit. Looks kooky enough to warrant a try.

I don't have a vitamix, but I have a new immersion blender...might that work? Beautiful photos. Never knew a green drink could look so good.

Yum.
I've been coveting a vitamix for a long while, and it's getting to the point where I REALLY wish I had one. For things like this.

try it with spirulina and a little goooood honey. No spinach needed then to make it green and just as yummy!!
